What our users are saying about MyArk
Security is core to all we do
MyArk was founded with leading cyber experts using extensive, cutting edge security protocols.
Only you can see the data. All your data is held by you, on your phone. We can't see it and don't store or retain it so we can't ever sell it. This is because we use zero-knowledge encryption. If you back up the data - using OneDrive, Google Drive, or Solid - it is still encrypted, just 1Password and other password managers.
Only you choose what you do with your data and when.
You can share data such as your bills with your housemate, but can always stop sharing when you want to. If you want to share data with a provider to get better products and service, that's your choice - it's consent driven sharing.
Your data is yours and will always belong to you.
Frequently asked questions
There’s an onboarding guide and checklist in MyArk that will get you set up. It will ask you to connect a bank account, add some bills and utilities, and a mortgage illustration.
Think of cooking a meal, it will be much quicker if you have the kettle on and ingredients ready to go.
The more information you have to hand the better - this can be hard copy paper bills, documents from another app, or PDFs saved on your phone. It then takes less than 3 minutes to get up and running.
Tap the orange plus (➕) button in top right hand corner of dashboard to add new documents.
You can link your email account by tapping the the orange plus (➕) sign in top right of dashboard and then selecting Link email account
.
MyArk will detect your email provider and guide you through the process.
Open the PDF document in your app, and look for the icon. In the tray that opens, select MyArk. If you can’t see it, select More
and scroll to find MyArk.
We’re still adding support for some types of documents, but check:
- You’ve scanned the document using the MyArk app, not another app or a scanner. MyArk’s scanner does extra processing when you scan.
- The room you’re scanning in is well lit.
- The page was straight when you scanned it - our scanner looks for the corners of documents to help with this, so if you have a pile of papers on top of each other that can affect it.
- You held the phone steady while scanning, otherwise the text can appear blurry in low light and then MyArk can’t read it.
If you have access to the original document, try adding it directly to MyArk from the file on your phone using the icon.
MyArk only connects to your email from your mobile phone, not our servers, to protect your data and privacy. The frequency of background updates depends on how often you use MyArk, and is normally about once an hour and never more than every 15 minutes.
When you open MyArk, the app will start checking your email in the background automatically.
Some apps, like Octopus Energy, don’t tell other apps the type of data they can share meaning MyArk isn’t in the list of options. You can save the file on your iPhone first, then add it to MyArk from the Files
app.
MyArk can’t read every type of document yet, but you can help us improve the app by pressing Share with MyArk developers
while viewing the document. By doing this, you’re giving us permission for us to use the document to fix any bugs or issues, so it’s entirely optional. We won’t use your document for any other purpose.
Otherwise email us on support@myark.io and we will help you.
Please select Forgot password
on the sign in screen and follow the instructions to reset your password using an email.
If you’re already signed in and have forgotten your password, sign out first through your profile icon in the top left.
Large documents can take some time to process, as we protect your data by doing all of the processing on your mobile phone.
However, if you’ve waited a while and it’s still spinning, please let us know at support@myark.io. You can force close the app and reopen it to get back to the home screen, using the app switcher - swipe up at the bottom of the screen, then swipe MyArk upwards to close it.
This means that all your information is encrypted using keys that only you have access to, unlike most apps that send and store the data on the developers’ servers. Only you can read the data, and you choose who you want to share it with.
MyArk encrypts your data with keys from both your mobile phone (you can also enable FaceID or TouchID) and your MyArk account. MyArk staff don’t have a copy of your data and don’t have the keys to decrypt it.
Nothing. We cannot see your information because it is encrypted and stored on your phone, not our servers.
Please email us at support@myark.io and we will get right back to you.
MyArk is built with security at it’s core. We use state of the art technology and encryption to make your data extremely safe - specifically zero knowledge encryption with multiple keys.
One of the reasons we built MyArk as an app is that we can wrap our security protocols with your phone’s security features, giving it extra layers of protection. This includes TouchID, FaceID and the secure enclave.
We also hold Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus, which is a government backed and audited certification that ensures we have appropriate levels of cyber security and governance in place.

Go into your profile using the icon in the top left, and select Delete account
.
Please note you will need to sign up for a new account if you want to use MyArk again in the future. Without your account you will lose access to any information stored within the app, even if you sign up again.
To completely remove all your data you should also delete the app from your phone after deleting your account.
MyArk property functionality is free and will remain so.
For additional functionality, including linking bank accounts using open banking, there is a subscription fee of £3.99 per month.
The open banking standard isn’t based on zero knowledge, but requires a company - an Account Information Service Provider (AISP) - to be regulated and approved before connecting to bank accounts under The Payment Services Regulations 2017. MyArk works with Moneyhub to do this as an appointed agent, and adheres to strict security and encryption standards.
MyArk doesn’t store or retain any of your banking information. We receive notifications when there are new transactions on your accounts, but these don’t contain the transaction details (e.g. the amount, sender, or recipient) and we delete them as soon as your app has received the information. Your mobile app connects directly to Moneyhub, which connects to your bank in order to access the transaction information. We protect the connection to banks by registering your device against your MyArk account, which means even if someone knows your MyArk account login details, they wouldn’t be able to access your bank account information without also having your phone and passing its biometric protection (FaceID/TouchID) if enabled.
MyArk and Moneyhub share information such as the type of accounts you’ve connected and when it was last updated so we can provide support to you. Moneyhub performs some additional processing on the transaction and balance information before it’s sent to your app, for example to allow transactions to be categorised; you can find out more about Moneyhub’s data processing on their website.
MyArk will never look at your transaction details or balance information, and it never passes through our servers.
MyArk automatically reports errors and crashes to the development team, but personal information such as your IP address is removed. We don’t associate crash reports with your user account.
If we find out any personal information is inadvertently captured in a crash log, we remove it.
MyArk stores and encrypts your data on your mobile device and nowhere else by default; it is not transmitted to MyArk’s servers or cloud.
When you start the MyArk app, to decrypt the data requires two parts that together form a key – one part comes from your MyArk account, and the second part comes from your phone’s built-in security module which Apple calls the secure enclave, which is isolated from the rest of the device. MyArk only has the first part of the key and never has access to the second part - this is what makes our approach ‘zero knowledge’.
If you enable FaceID or TouchID depending on your phone model, the second part of your key is further protected by requiring the facial or thumb print recognition. This additional protection applies to all the data except a small part required for MyArk to check for updates in the background (as your face isn’t available when the phone is doing things in the background!).
To access the data in MyArk therefore requires all of:
- your MyArk username and password
- your specific mobile phone and that the phone has been unlocked
- unlocking the app using FaceID or TouchID
We’ll be adding options that allow you to backup the data on the phone to a cloud storage provider of your choosing in the near future. This could be Google Drive, iCloud, or OneDrive. These backups will also be encrypted to ensure zero knowledge, meaning neither the cloud provider nor MyArk has the key to decrypt them. We do this by deriving another encryption key using your account password and cloud account details. MyArk never receives your MyArk account password - we use a secure remote password approach that proves you know your password to our servers without ever sending the actual password.
Head to our account site to cancel your subscription.
You can delete your MyArk account within our app by pressing the profile button in the top left of the dashboard, which normally shows your initials.
You can manage your suscription, card details, and access receipts on our account site.
This is automatic when you add a document or information with an end date, such as a fixed rate on a mortgage, or a fixed tariff on a utility bill.
We do everything we can to ensure your information is as safe as possible. This includes protecting your information with three different security layers:
- your MyArk account - where one part of your key is stored, but MyArk doesn’t have the second part so we can’t see your information
- your mobile phone’s security module - a dedicated subprocessor designed to be ultra-secure
- your mobile phone’s biometric features - you can enable TouchID or FaceID and this is then required to decrypt the data in your MyArk app
If you think your phone might have been hacked, get in touch at support@myark.io and we’ll help.
This means the data you add to MyArk is held on your own mobile device. Unlike most cloud services, MyArk doesn’t have a central store of everyone’s information which makes it more secure.
